PBC Linear Expanding Actuator Line for Industrial Automation Applications
Actuators are an important component within many automation systems, helping move goods along production lines, among other tasks. As automation continues to grow, so too does the need for various types of actuation solutions.
To help meet this need, PBC Linear is bringing several new actuation technologies to the market which are overviewed in this video interview with Tom Ouellette, Vice President of Mechatronics at PBC Linear.
Belt-driven actuators with multiple profile rails is one of the new technologies the company is bringing to the market. He said these actuators provide up to 6 m of travel with loads up to 8,000 lbs., enabling their use in a wide range of applications such as material handling and packaging.
Ouellette said the company is also planning to integrate control electronics across its actuator range, helping provide more of a full-system solution for customers — an increasingly desirable option for many machine builders to help ease their design process.
PBC Linear is also releasing a series of rod style electric actuators designed to replace pneumatic and small hydraulic actuation technologies. These too will come with the companies integrated electronic control technology.
