This release came across my Twitter feed during Bauma last week and I just thought it was too cool not to share. Caterpillar Inc. now offers its own cell phone through Bullitt Mobile Ltd. with the Cat B15 rugged cell phone, designed with Caterpillar users in mind (and what hydraulic system designer or user wouldn't want this tough device? I'm not even a huge fan of smart phones but I'd love to play with one!). It is currently available in Europe, with a U.S. launch later this year.
The Cat B15 can withstand a 1.8 m drop and can be submerged in up to 1 m of water for 30 minutes. Its 4-in. multi-touch screen can be used with wet fingers, and the phone is dustproof and scratch resistant.

The new device comes with the latest version of Android (4.1 Jelly Bean) and dual core 1GHZ processor. It is protected by silver anodized aluminium and shock absorbent rubber, reinforcing its durability for the 1.8m drop. In addition, the Cat B15 is certified IP67, an industry standard meaning the device is dustproof and waterproof (being submerged in up to one metre of water for 30 minutes).Visit catphones.com for more details.
