Parker Launches PE06 Proportional Valve for Brake-by-Wire Systems
Parker Hannifin introduces the PE06 proportional pressure reducing valve for brake-by-wire systems. The valve combines a proportional valve piston with an internal hydraulic feedback piston, allowing precise control of the reduced pressure along with a high-volume flow over the valve.
Parker introduced the PE06 proportional pressure reducing valve at CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2026, one of the largest events for the construction industry. Read about more technology launches and news from the show on our CONEXPO 2026 page.
Features and benefits of the PE06 proportional pressure reducing valve include:
- providing fast, precise hydraulic pressure control for electric/electrohydraulic braking
- low internal leakage rate of <25 cc at 200 bar
- inlet pressure maximum of 250 bar and control pressure up to 170 bar
- flow rate of 301/min (pressure-dependent)
- single or dual-circuit design available
- robust design to withstand use in harsh operating conditions
- low hysteresis to ensure consistent braking force and reduced component wear
- solenoid connection AMP Junior Timer and DT04-2P “Deutsch” are now available with an integrated suppressor diode (optional) for serial quantities upon request
Per the company, brake-by-wire is an increasingly common technology particularly for off-highway vehicles. It replaces mechanical links with electronic signals to improve safety, efficiency, braking response time, and design flexibility. By providing a redundant architecture of the braking systems, it reduces the risk of catastrophic failures in cases of nonperformance of one circuit or electronic path. Because of these aspects, brake-by-wire and other by-wire technologies are critical to enabling autonomous and automated vehicle control.
Brake-by-wire also helps to reduce the number of hydraulic components required, meeting the heavy equipment industry’s trend toward creating hydraulic-free cabins according to Parker Hannifin. Removing the hydraulics reduces weight and space claim as well as noise, heat and production time for cab manufacturers and OEMs.
