Danfoss Power Solutions has launched the Aeroquip by Danfoss GH888 Main Pump Hose which is a two-wire braided hydraulic hose designed for the main pump line on tractors. Due to the high pressures it can achieve, the GH888 hose can be used in place of four-wire spiral hoses in this application, offering a number of advantages to agricultural equipment OEMs and their customers.

According to Danfoss, four-wire spiral hoses are inherently less flexible which can make them more difficult to install. They are also known to be heavy and thus can add weight to a machine, leading to more energy consumed during operation.

The company's GH888 two-wire braided hose, on the other hand, overcomes these challenges by offering greater bending capabilities for easier installation and lower overall weight. These hoses also provide a lower-cost option compared to four-wire spiral hoses.

Key design features of the GH888 two-wire braided hydraulic hose include:

  • composite inner tube with increased stability enhances the hose’s robustness and boosts its pressure capability
  • operates at pressures of up to 350 bar for size 12 (3/4-in.) and 300 bar for size 16 (1-in.), previously only possible with four-wire spiral hoses conforming to EN856 4SP or SAE 100 R12/R13
  • up to 24% improved force to bend compared to four-wire spiral hoses facilitates easier installation in cramped engine compartments, enabling greater freedom in system design and hose routing
  • reduced weight of up to 15% compared to four-wire spiral hose aids overall machine weight reductions to achieve fuel efficiency gains and minimized soil compaction in farm fields.
