Offshore Technology Conference set to draw crowds to Houston

This annual conference is one of the leading events for the development of offshore resources in the fields of drilling, exploration, production, and environmental protection.
The Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) 2014 will be held May 5 to 8 at Reliant Park in Houston. This annual conference is one of the leading events for the development of offshore resources in the fields of drilling, exploration, production, and environmental protection. OTC attracts approximately 100,000 attendees from more than 120 countries, and has over 2,500 exhibitors, including a large number of fluid-power component, system, and service providers. Exhibits will be open from 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM Tuesday and Wednesady, and 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM on Thursday.

The OTC technical program covers a variety of topics focused on technological advances, safety and environmentally focused solutions, and economic and regulatory impacts. New topics featured this year include new applications and solutions for underwater monitoring networks and sensing, and process safety in offshore operations.

Several companies and organizations will be there to present project updates. Japan Oil, Gas and Metals National Corp. (JOGMEC) will share the results from the first marine methane hydrate production test and will highlight methane hydrate as a resource. Shell will also present updates on the Mars B Project. Additional updates related to drilling interventions, flow assurance, and ultradeep-water program projects will be conducted from oil and gas companies such as Pemex, Total, BP, Chevron, Marathon, and more.

The Global Subsea University Alliance will be present to help establish the global subsea curriculum. OTC will also be an opportunity to engage in discussions on oil economics, gas monetization, CAPEX outlook, and energy forecasts.

Special events include OTC at the Ballpark, the Annual OTC Dinner and awards presentation, Topical Breakfasts and Luncheons focusing on ethics, energy, safety and policy reform, the University R&D Showcase, and Energy Education featuring a Teacher Workshop, and High School STEM Event.
