Danfoss Power Solutions has introduced the Thorx CLM 5 C cam lobe motor which is designed for use with drum drives on road rollers and other compaction equipment. This hydraulic motor is the latest addition to the company's Thorx family of cam lobe motors, first introduced to the mobile equipment market in 2023.
Features of the Thorx CLM 5 C cam lobe motor include:

integrated parking brake at center of the motor for a compact design
multi-disc brake eliminates the risk of jamming associated with dog clutch brakes utilized in other cam lobe motors
total efficiency of 92% reduces heat generation, extending the service life of components such as seals and bearings
two strong taper roller bearings to prevent shaft deflection and thereby eliminate hydraulic oil leakage at the shaft seal
bearing arrangement withstands higher loads than cam lobe motors with ball bearings, providing a longer service life
balanced rotary group offers smoother low-speed rotation, enabling machine owners to achieve better road finishing and a smoother road surface
12 pistons and nine lobes enable rotary group to keep a constant number of pistons under pressure, reducing low-speed ripple
interchangeable with other drum drive cam lobe motors for ease of integration.
