New technologies and solutions highlight the event’s kickoff.

The opening day of Design Summit 2020, the four-day virtual event presented by Endeavor Business Media’s Design & Engineering Group, looks forward at the technologies that will shape the next years of manufacturing and design, as well as at the research under way to make those technologies more efficient and effective.

Registration for Design Summit 2020 is as easy as clicking on this link. Design Summit 2020 is sponsored by:

Platinum Sponsors: Altech, Dassault Systemes, Texas Instruments, Universal Robots

Gold Sponsor: maxon Parvalux

Silver Sponsor: Mitsubishi Electric Automation

Bronze Sponsors: Rohde & Schwarz, Stratus Technologies

The event opens Monday, Nov. 16 at 10 a.m. EST with a keynote discussion featuring Peter Eelman of AMT and Jeff Burnstein of A3 discussing how associations have maintained membership and sponsor connections in an age of COVID-19 that forced show cancellations and spawned virtual events.

At 11 a.m., sessions include a discussion of the fluid power industry and its future with Eric Lanke, CEO of the National Fluid Power Association, and a look at how robots and cobots are being deployed in manufacturing with Karl Sheppard of Universal Robots.

The 12 p.m. sessions include a look at the future of the digital twin with Dr. Richard Soley, head of the Digital Twin Consortium, and an in-depth look at another emerging technology, single-pair Ethernet, with Thomas Burke of Mitsubishi Electric Automation.

At 1 p.m., Morgan Early of Altech presents the first in a daily series of sessions on emerging technologies and strategies within Altech.

The 2 p.m. sessions include the post-election economic outlook, featuring Dale Ford, chief analyst at the Electronic Component Industry Association, as well as a tour of the new Connected Systems Institute at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
