IFPE call for papers ... again

A second call for papers has been issued for the International Exposition for Power Transmission 2005 Technical Conference, seeking paper abstracts on innovations in the power transmission industry. Possible conference topics are available in the events and education area of the IFPE Web site at www.ifpe.com. Call (414) 298-4141 to request a call for papers brochure or email [email protected] with questions. Abstracts must be submitted by July 1.

Teamwork in research

NFPA is continuing its efforts to develop a Cooperative Network for Research in Motion Control through Fluid Power (CNR). The purpose of the initiative is to foster research at leading engineering schools in areas important to the fluid power industry.

So far, 10 NFPA member companies, along with NFPA, have pledged support totaling more than $300,000 for each of two years.

Current supporters have compiled and voted on a list of priori-tized research areas. Highest priority goes to:

  • Robust low-cost sensors
  • True zero-leak solutions on all sealing surfaces
  • Lightweight and high-strength materials, and
  • Component and systems simulation modeling.
