ControlAir Signal Operated Back Pressure Regulators Aid Pressure Control for Industrial Pneumatics

The Type 715BP and Type 7250BP Signal Operated Back Pressure Regulators are designed as normally closed valves to provide accurate and stable pressure control for pneumatic systems.

Accurate and stable pressure control is a must in many industrial applications utilizing pneumatic systems. To achieve this, ControlAir LLC has introduced its Type 715BP and Type 7250BP Signal Operated Back Pressure Regulators.

These regulators are designed to provide pressure control as well as high flow capacity in a wide range of industrial applications such as process control and industrial automation.

The regulators are designed as normally closed valves that open only when upstream pressure exceeds the control signal or setpoint. ControlAir states in its press release announcing the regulators’ launch that this design aids their ability to provide highly accurate relief and flow control. This normally closed operation makes the back pressure regulators a good fit for protecting downstream systems from over-pressurization while maintaining consistent performance.

Features of the Signal Operated Back Pressure Regulators include:

  • precise 1:1 signal-to-output ratio
  • operation at system pressures up to 250 psig and signal pressures up to 150 psig
  • ruggedly constructed with aluminum body and high-quality internal components to ensure long-term durability
  • multiple port size configurations available
  • availability of optional features such as ATEX certification and expanded temperature ranges
  • ability to vary signal pressure, typically via an I/P transducer, to precisely regulate downstream flow or relieve excess upstream pressure to provide system efficiency and reliability

The Type 715BP back pressure regulator provides flow rates up to 90 SCFM. It has sensitivity as low as 1/4 in. (6.4 mm) water column, enabling it to deliver a quick response to pressure changes. Stable operation of the regulator is achieved through an isolated control chamber that minimizes vibration and hunting, while its compact design eases maintenance by allowing service without removing the unit from the air line.

The Type 715BP regulator is optimized for applications requiring high accuracy and moderate flow capacity.

Meanwhile, the Type 7250BP is engineered for high-flow, high-relief applications due to its greater capacity; the Type 7250BP can achieve flows up to 375 SCFM. This back pressure regulator also features a high level of sensitivity to pressure deviations, 1 in. (2.54 cm) water column, and stable performance under dynamic flow conditions, suiting use in demanding environments.

The unit can vent excess pressure to atmosphere or be configured to trigger emergency shut-off systems, making it a good option for safety-critical applications as well.
