Modern manufacturing applications are becoming ever more digital and automated to help improve productivity and performance, both of which are key factors associated with Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
Florent Orget, Actuators Product Marketing Manager for Discrete Automation at Emerson, explained that OEE is a performance metric used to determine how well industrial machinery does its job which equates to the success of a manufacturing facility.
With the rise in automation and digitalization, he said OEE has become more prevalent due to the range of solutions that can be deployed, such as electric linear actuators which can provide performance, reliability and accuracy. “These performance factors improve OEE greatly,” he said.
In this Quick Chat with Power & Motion, Orget provides an overview of electric actuator technologies, factors to consider when selecting an actuator as well as the role these components play in achieving overall equipment effectiveness.
