Bosch Rexroth Electromechanical Cylinders Available in High-Force, High-Precision Version

May 9, 2022
The new EMC-HP is designed for heavy loads up to 100 kN and features a compact yet robust design.

Bosch Rexroth is now offering a high-force, high-precision, and low-maintenance version of its electromechanical cylinders (EMC) known as the EMC-HP. The actuator is suited for loads up to 100 kN and features a robust as well as compact design.

The EMC-HP is based on a planetary screw drive which ensures reliable, continuous power in various applications including under harsh conditions. Inclusion of a new oil-bath lubrication and optional water cooling directly on the screw itself aid reliability as well the company notes in its press release announcing the launch of the actuator.

Features of the EMC-HP actuator include:

  • available in three sizes - 115, 130 and 160 (housing diameter)
  • IP65 protection class
  • dynamic load capacity (Cdyn) of up to 189.5 kN
  • lightweight aluminum housing
  • single-cable solution.

Bosch Rexroth says the EMC-HP can be used in a variety of heavy-duty applications with strokes up to 1,500 mm. These can include pressing, forming, riveting, tensioning, positioning and testing.

The planetary screw assembly provides a high level of accuracy and dynamics which helps to provide quick and accurate movements, ensuring energy efficiency. Axial forces up to 100 kN at speeds up to 0.83 m/s are possible, as well.

Maintenance is lower with the EMC-HP as the use of a planetary screw assembly reduces the number of lubrication intervals necessary. Replacement of seals is also quick and easy, the company says, further minimizing maintenance efforts and helping improve overall productivity for users.
