Moog AXP Hydraulic Pump Provides Efficient, Low-Noise Operation
The Moog AXP Axial Piston Pump Series introduces a patented slipper-free, 15-piston floating configuration that merges internal gear and piston pump advantages into a single hydraulic pump design.
With this pump technology, efficiency and service life can be increased. The pump’s patented slipper-free design reduces sensitivity to low suction pressures, helping to extend its lifespan. It is also resistant to cavitation and contamination, enabling it withstand use in demanding applications and thus further extending its performance life.
The AXP’s 15-piston floating configuration, combined with a sound-optimized case and flange, reduces pulsation and noise for smoother, almost silent operation.
Reducing noise levels from hydraulic components is becoming an increasingly important design factor, particularly in mobile equipment applications as they become more electrified. Using a smaller sized engine, or eliminating it completely, makes it easier to hear noise produced by other components on a machine, challenging design teams with finding ways to minimize the amount of noise produced by hydraulic pumps and other componentry.
To start, the AXP Series will be available in sizes 33, 63 and 100 with a fixed displacement. Additional sizes are planned for the future, including size 145 variable displacement pumps and versions for four-quadrant operation.
