SKF, Gothenburg, Sweden, recently introduced the SKF Hose Connection Control (HCC) for monitoring lubrication and hydraulic lines on construction equipment. Designed to check for ruptures in hoses, the unit alerts the machine operator immediately if a fault is detected in the main line from the pump or in the feed lines to the actuator or lubrication point.
The SKF HCC is intended to help prevent equipment damage and unplanned downtime. In addition, the risk of accidents and environmental pollution from leaking fluid can be reduced significantly. Requiring either 12- or 24-V dc supply, the HCC unit can monitor from up to 20 hoses, depending on voltage. It can also be retrofit into existing lubrication systems and is expandable for increases needs in the future.
Operation of the HCC is unaffected by line lengths, ambient temperature, pressure differential, or pressure losses. Using non-conductive lubricants or hydraulic fluids, the monitoring system has an operating pressure up to 300 bar (4 351 psi) and can be used in temperatures from -40 to +70 °C (-40 to 158 °F).
The Hose Connection Control includes the analyzer unit, a connector that acts as an electric isolator between the fluid line and the fluid metering device, and a connection cable to the analyzer. Fluid hoses must electrically conductive.
