A great fluid power safety advocate

Several years ago, at one of our Fluid Power Conference & Expos here in Cleveland, I had the pleasure of meeting Rory McLaren, of the Fluid Power Training Institute. He exhibited at our event and afterwards, he joined us for dinner.

I have never met anyone as passionate as Rory when it comes to training and safety in fluid power system design, maintenance, and troubleshooting. His stories of mishaps, injuries, and even death that can come from not following proper protocol were often shocking and most importantly, eye-opening. He is perhaps one of the most vocal advocates of proper training for individuals who uses fluid power, so I was happy to post a six-part series of articles that Rory wrote for H&P back in 2001-02 about fluid power safety in the workplace. I know that these articles are critical to saving lives and come from someone who really knows what he's talking about.

We'll be promoting these articles on our home page in the coming weeks, but I invite you all to read them now — they are a series but don't need to be read in order.
