AEM to create new international construction trade shows

The Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM) announced today that it is expanding its global events, with the launch of ConExpo Latin America and a joint venture with Messe München to host a bauma event in South Africa, called bC Expo South Africa (Pty) Ltd. AEM is co-locating ConExpo with the Chilean Chamber of Construction’s Edifica exposition to be held October 2015 in Santiago, Chile.Latin America is a key world region for off-road equipment manufacturers doing business globally. The association initiated the show in response to member feedback for improved marketing opportunities for global equipment manufacturers within Latin America. The show will feature the latest construction and construction materials equipment, technologies and services for the Latin America marketplace.  A managing committee of exhibitors and other industry stakeholders will guide strategic direction of the show to deliver maximum return on investment that meets the industry needs of all participants.

The plan is to rotate location of CONEXPO Latin America between the northern and southern areas of South America. The show launches as an annual event, with future timing and rotation with other events to be determined. AEM is working with allied associations and has valuable support from MMI, organizers of bauma. The first bauma Africa will be held in Johannesburg this September. It is being organized by MMI South Africa (Pty) Ltd., a 100% subsidiary of Messe München. Subsequent events will then be organized by the new joint venture with AEM.

Messe München and AEM have already collaborated in bC India. Its premiere in 2011 occupied 88,000 m² of exhibition space. When the fair was last held in February 2013, the amount of exhibition space increased to 150,000 m².
