Actuators Doing More Complex Work

Bosch Rexroth's Richard Vaughn notes that the emergence of EVs is creating new opportunities.

Richard Vaughn, automation engineering manager at Bosch Rexroth, said the emergence of electric vehicles (EV) creates interesting opportunities for the actuator market. “I see it playing real heavily already, actually, and it's on the starting side, the battery manufacturing that goes into the EVs,” Vaughn told Power & Motion. “That's an area where there's a lot of linear actuators being utilized right now, and it's anything that's a simple single axis all the way up to more complex multi axis systems and working together as they go and then on the other end, the assembly of the vehicles themselves.”
