Electrification System Design Requires a Focus on Safety

July 2, 2025
A panel of industry experts discuss the various aspects which should be considered during the design of electrification systems to ensure their safe operation.

Safety is an important aspect to consider when developing electrification systems. Ensuring proper connections, component design as well as preventing electrical shocks are just some of the considerations which should be kept in mind.

As Mourad Chergui, Senior Product Manager, Delta-Q Technologies, a ZAPI GROUP company, pointed out during this panel discussion with Power & Motion from the webinar “The Importance of Safety When Developing Electrification Systems,” the batteries utilized in many electrification systems also introduce safety concerns. Because of the chemicals used in these batteries, there can be issues related to spills, explosions and thermal runaway that all need to be taken into consideration during the design process.

In this panel discussion, Chergui along with Harshil Patel, Systems Engineer, Bosch Rexroth; Michael Terzo, P.E., CEO of Xirro, LLC and Co-Founder of HeavyTech, Inc.; and DJ O’Konek, Engineering Manager, at Nott Company offer their perspectives on the safety factors to consider during the development of electrification systems.
