The LA-21-A series of ac  linear variable differential transformers (LVDTs) features five full ranges from 3 in. to 15 in., and are offered in housings that are 0.805-in. diameter. The housings are made out of zinc-plated steel, contributing to the LVDT’s resistance to mild radiation. It is environmentally sealed to IP68, with a core enclosed in an extension rod with a 3/8-in. diameter. A 5/16-24 unified fine or M8 X 1.25 male thread is featured for easy attachment. Its 4-in. axial leads are stripped and tinned. With a full-scale-output linear error of less than ±0.3%, and operating temperature between -40 and 120°C, the LA-21-A series is suited to applications including stamping or drawing press-die openings, processing valve controls, and providing feedback on roller gaps in steel or aluminum mills.
