POSITAL 20 mm IXARC Encoders Offer Compact Design for Motion Control Applications
POSITAL announces the expansion of its IXARC series of rotary encoders with the addition of 20 mm diameter multiturn magnetic encoders. The encoders were developed specifically for motion control applications with space constraints.
Featuring a total housing length of 31 mm, POSITAL says these devices are the company’s smallest multiturn encoders to date. Despite their compact size, the encoders are able to provide the same performance as other encoder products available from POSITAL.
Additional features of the 20 mm diameter IXARC multiturn magnetic encoders include:
- Battery-free, Wiegand-based rotation counting technology makes for a virtually maintenance-free design
- TMR (Tunnel Magnetoresistance) sensing technology offering up to 19-bit single-turn resolution combined with signal stability and low power consumption
- Advanced signal processing ASIC (application specific integrated circuit) which provides precise interpolation and multiturn data handling while minimizing power requirements
- Wiegand energy-harvesting system for non-volatile rotation counting enables multiturn position tracking over a 16-bit range (65,536 revolutions) without the need for batteries or external power backup
- Housed in corrosion-resistant stainless-steel enclosures and available with several solid and hollow shaft options
- Connector clip allowing cable exit in either radial or axial orientations to aid integration into tight spaces
- Communication interfaces based on BiSS C and SSI protocols to ensure compatibility with a wide range of industrial motion controllers and drive systems
The 20 mm diameter IXARC multiturn encoders are well suited for a range of motion control applications such as robotics, medical instrumentation, compact actuators, and precision mechatronic assemblies.
