To lift and move stone slabs or metal sheets and plates, a vacuum attachment and framework built by Airlock Mfg. Co., Birmingham, mounts on the front of a forklift truck, replacing the forks. The model pictured can handle slabs weighing 650 lb. A hydraulic motor, located behind the driver and powered by the truck’s hydraulic system, drives a mechanical vacuum pump any time the truck is running. The driver manipulates the attachment with the fork controls. Additional controls turn on vacuum to the pads and release it, and actuate 908 pad rotation, again powered by the truck’s hydraulic system.
