The compact, highly efficient D1 PWM valve driver controls Enfield's LS and M2 proportional valves. It converts proportional command voltage to a –1.1 to 1.1 A current to drive its linear force motor. It allows for either a 12 or 24 Vdc power supply. Deadband, dither amplitude, and maximum current are adjustable. It easily interfaces PLCs or computers with the valve, eliminating the need to write valve management routines. Digital closed-loop current control compensates for perturbations, such as change in input voltage and change in coil resistance due to temperature. It operates in temperatures from –40° to 65°C (–40° to 150°F).
Command signal inputs are user-selectable, ranging from 0-5 and 0-10 Vdc or PWM signals with frequencies greater than 2 kHz. Full valve spool shifts in one direction if the 0 V command is used, while 10 V results in a full spool shift in the opposite direction with proportional flow in between. The spool is centered and all ports blocked when the input signal is 5 Vdc, mid-way in the range.
Additionally, driver protects from short circuits and is RoHs compliant. It offers adjustable valve deadband, dither amplitude, and current maximum, and accepts PWM input from a PLC or other source. Finally, it features digital closed-loop current control.
