In a time of global concerns over the coronavirus outbreak and a staggering stock market, the 2020 International Fluid Power Exposition began Tuesday, March 10 at the Las Vegas Convention Center. Show officials did everything they could to bolster the show’s expectations despite significant vendor cancellations.
So the show does go on with educational sessions, exhibits and heightened vigilance around attendee safety. IFPE and the co-located CONEXPO/CON-AGG construction trade show have instituted a “no-handshake” policy at the event and have taken other steps to reassure the projected 120,000 attendees about health and safety at the shows.
“Please know we are committed to hosting safe and successful shows. Our top priority is focused on the health and safety of all participants at CONEXPO-CON/AGG and IFPE 2020, including attendees, exhibitors, vendors, staff, industry partners and others involved in the shows,” show officials stated in a press release. “More information about the precautions we are taking can be found here.”
With major indoor and outdoor events being cancelled around the country and restrictions around sporting events discussed, IFPE and CONEXPO will be a test case for how large gatherings can interact in safety even as the coronavirus continues to expand its reach across the country.
