Just saw a report from the Herald-Tribune that Sun Hydraulics reported a 70 percent jump in second-quarter profits. Like many other public fluid power companies, Sun Hydraulics has quickly returned to pre-recession numbers. And like most other companies have reported, international sales are most often the reason for success. Domestic sales are still low, Sun says.

The profit of $10.4 million, or 41 cents per share, compared with a profit of $6.1 million, or 24 cents, in the second quarter of 2010.

Sun manufactures screw-in hydraulic valve cartridges and manifolds.
