Bigger and better at ICUEE 2011

Sept. 15, 2011
ICUEE 2011 boasts new safety demos and expanded educational programs.

The 2011 ICUEE, International Construction and Utility Equipment Exposition will be held October 4-6 at the Kentucky Exposition Center in Louisville. Features include new safety equipment demonstrations and the return of the ICUEE Ride & Drive for attendees interested in on-road commercial vehicles.

This year ICUEE has added crane and rigging safety demonstrations from the National Commission for the Certification of Crane Operators and International Powered Access Federation, with a focus on ensuring adequate ground support for the machine and load carried.

ICUEE will also again feature a general show safety demo area, which has focused on topics such as live-line safety and pole top/fall protection. The New Products & Technologies Preview will once again be a staple in this year’s event, spotlighting exhibitors’ latest innovations. They will be marked with special signage on the show floor.

The addition of the exhibitor demo schedule and Technical Experts Directory, which can be found at www.icuee.com, allows participants to see all of the demonstrations available to them and plan their trip accordingly.

Education and training target safety

On top of participating in hands-on demonstrations, attendees have access to more than 100 learning opportunities and multiple co-located events. Education programs at ICUEE cover underground, above-ground and overhead applications. Sessions are geared to industry professionals in electric, sewer/water, phone/cable, gas, general construction, government, and landscaping jobs.

Two hydraulic specific education sessions include, “Extend the Life of Compact Equipment by Reducing Levels of Hydraulic Contamination” and “Save a Finger, Hand or Life with Hydraulic Coupler Safety Strategies.” The former focuses on the somewhat ignored area of compact equipment and related maintenance. The latter details the installation, operation, and upkeep of hydraulic couplers.

New keynote sessions focus on energy and safety practices. Co-located educational programming from AEMP (the Association of Equipment Management Professionals), sessions from UCT (Underground Construction Technology) and — new for 2011 — sessions from International Erosion Control Association, National Association of Trailer Manufacturers, SAE International and Scaffolding Industry Association will also be offered.

Education opportunities and news are also available to attendees through the co-located H2O-XPO show for water and wastewater utility equipment and products, sponsored by the National Rural Water Association, and the iP Safety Conference and Expo, focused on safety and training products.
