What do fluid power and art have in common? According to a statement in Fluid Power Educational Foundation (FPEF) summer newsletter, “those in both science and art pursue open-ended inquiry, have visual acuity and insight, seek creative and new solutions, and want to make the world a better place.”
With that in mind, FPEF and the Community College of Allegheny County (CCAC) are hosting an Art for Industry fundraiser on Friday, September 25, from 2:00-9:00 pm. Taking place at the Pittsburgh Botanic Gardens, the event showcases the artwork of local artists. Ticket-sale proceeds go toward student scholarships for CCAC’s Mechatronics Program. Artists will also donate a portion of their proceeds toward fluid power scholarships.
The mission of FPEF is to “stimulate, advance, and support the science of hydraulic and pneumatic technology through educational initiatives at all levels.” By reaching out to the art community with CCAC, FPEF brings together supporters of local artists and gives them to chance to fund students that are interested in working with the systems and technologies that are behind the scenes in everyday life.
Refreshments and award ceremonies will be held from 2:00-4:00 pm ($40). Participants can also stay for food and cocktails between 6:00-9:00 pm ($100).
