In a recent post to our technical discussion forums, H&P’s editor Alan Hitchcox talks about some shortcomings in the industry recently discussed in meetings with the British Fluid Power Association and GAMBICA, an organization representing instrumentation, control, automation, and laboratory technology companies.

The article discussed some perceived shortcomings in the fluid power industry—namely, safety analysis concerns, especially in the area of “mean time before failure” and a lack of understanding of complex control systems used to interface with hydraulic and pneumatic systems.

Check out the post from Alan and read the whole report from the meeting as well, then log into our forums and weigh in. We’d love to hear what you have to say about this topic and if you think the shortcomings are real or not really a concern.
