It’s hard to believe we’re about to enter the final quarter of the year, which usually means it’s time to start reflecting on the year that was and what may be in store for the fluid power and motion control technology sectors in 2027.
And that is exactly what we’re doing now here at Power & Motion with our annual State of the Industry coverage. Through interviews with members of the fluid power and motion control industries as well as insights from recent economic reports I aim to provide you, our readers, with a snapshot of current market conditions and potential opportunity areas to help you make better engineering and business decisions.
Our top story in today’s newsletter is my 2026 State of the Industry interview with Ken Baker, CEO of Bailey International, who discussed the recovery he is starting to see in some customer markets, like trucking, and the trends driving development efforts, particularly the shift toward more subsystem integration.
Be on the lookout for more State of the Industry interviews rolling out this week with representatives from KHK, Emerson, Danfoss, and Schaeffler. Later this week I’ll also be publishing my piece examining specific customer markets. Quick spoiler – data centers are helping boost several market areas of interest for fluid power and motion control technology suppliers.
