Happy New Year and I hope your 2026 is off to a good start! In the spirit of starting a new year, today’s newsletter is filled with content offering forward-looking information to help make sense of what may lay ahead for the hydraulic, pneumatic and electromechanical motion system industries.
One of the trends that continues to dominate in many sectors is automation. As Kyle Thompson, Global Robotic Automation Manager at Thomson, explains in our top story, momentum is building for automation and many customers are looking for full-system solutions to ease their implementation of it — something we hear customers in almost all industries are looking for these days. This rise in automation and desire for full-system solutions is bringing opportunities for companies like Thomson offering automation solutions, and likely will for the foreseeable future as efforts to overcome labor challenges and improve productivity continue.
Hydraulic hoses and hydraulic systems in general are another opportunity area noted in our piece from market research firm Stratview Research. Hydraulics remain critical to the functionality of many machines, particularly heavy-duty mobile machinery like construction equipment. Investments in infrastructure projects around the world, as well as other construction projects such as data centers, will continue to bring demand for excavators, dozers and other machines and thus the systems enabling them to function which is expected to benefit the hydraulic hoses market in the years to come.
Other highlights in this month’s newsletter include a look at the growing uptake of hybrid systems, various opportunity markets for the fluid power industry as well as an examination of some of the signals indicating 2026 could be a year of growth once again for the hydraulics and pneumatics sector.
What market trends or opportunity areas do you see on the horizon in 2026? Have topics you’d like to see us cover in future editions of this newsletter? Let me know by reaching out to me any time at [email protected].
As one final note, we’re now making this newsletter biweekly, so look for it every other Friday so you can stay on top of the many technology and economic trends shaping the fluid power and broader motion system market.
