Demand for tracked machines is increasing around the world, prompting the need for the drive motors commonly used in these machine types such as compact track loaders. Seeing this increased demand, Danfoss recently announced its BMV Integrated Drive Motor will now be available for the global market.
The BMV is a two-speed axial piston motor with an integrated planetary reduction gearbox designed for use in dual-path tracked machinery. In my interview with Danfoss’ Abhi Patwa, Director, Medium Power Portfolio Management, Hydrostatics, at the top of today’s newsletter he explains how this motor meets the durability, drivability and package size requirements which are critical to OEMs developing tracked machines.
Drivability in particular he said is important to manufacturers and users of these machines. To improve this performance attribute, the BMV motor is designed to provide smooth starting behavior which helps enhance both operator comfort and overall machine performance.
Are you seeing increased demand for tracked machines, and the components used in them? If so, what is driving this demand and what other technologies are required for these machines? What other technological developments are you seeing in the fluid power industry? Let me know your thoughts on these or any other topics by emailing me at [email protected].
