It’s been a whirlwind few days at CONEXPO 2026 so far with lots of discussions about how new fluid power and other technologies are being designed to help improve durability, efficiency, ease of use and so much more for mobile equipment OEMs and their customers.
Technology highlights from some of my most recent meetings at the show include new hydraulic pump technologies from Eaton and Moog Construction aimed at providing more efficiency as well as reduced noise to improve the operator experience. I also had the opportunity to see Leggett & Platt’s new sensor for hydraulic cylinders in person and test how easy it is to replace it by simply dropping it into the pre-drilled hole in the cylinder. This will aid in-field servicing for machine operators as they do not have to remove and replace the entire cylinder, minimizing their downtime which is critical in so many applications.
Speaking of new technology, in today’s newsletter we’re featuring a couple of pieces about new construction equipment launches from our colleagues at Construction Equipment to help provide insight into the machine designs coming into the market.
Other highlights in today’s newsletter include my interview with Camozzi Automation which sees smart motion and control solutions being a key trend at CONEXPO this year as well as an overview of Parker Hannifin’s new proportional pressure reducing valve for brake-by-wire systems. Use of these and other by-wire systems is increasing to help improve safety and brake response time.
