A wide range of manufacturing applications rely on hydraulics, pneumatics and electromechanical technologies to perform a number of tasks. And as the initial results of our survey on fluid power in industrial applications indicate, hydraulics and pneumatics remain an important component for the production of food, aerospace parts and more. Because manufacturing applications are such an important customer market for our audience, we thought we’d use this month’s newsletter to spotlight how fluid power and electromechanical solutions are being utilized in the manufacturing sector as well as some of the trends driving their design and insights into using and maintaining them.
Our top story offers a look at the benefits of using pneumatic systems to produce semiconductors. The clean operation provided by pneumatics is particularly beneficial when working with these sensitive electronics. In addition, pneumatic systems feature fast cycle times which help meet the fast-paced production required by this sector. As demand for semiconductors continues to grow in the coming years, it will bring opportunities to the fluid power industry as a whole as hydraulic components like quick couplings are an important part of the cooling systems used at many production facilities.
Other highlights in this month’s newsletter include a discussion with John Deere’s manufacturing engineering manager Chad McCarty about the benefits of implementing automation in the company’s production facilities as well as a look at the simplified design integrated linear actuators can provide manufacturing and other industrial applications.
For a deeper dive into the use of hydraulics and pneumatics in industrial applications, be sure to visit our website the week of October 13 for all new content related to industrial fluid power such as a look into the benefits of using variable speed hydraulic pump technology and a case study about an air compressor overhaul. Remember that survey I mentioned above? We’ll be sharing the results of that as well in a new data report that will be during this week of new content — if you want to provide your input, there’s still time. Be sure you're subscribed to our Power & Motion News e-enewsletter to get this content delivered directly to your inbox.
