Eric Alstrom, president of Danfoss Power Solutions, said the use cases for autonomous vehicles should be focused off-highway, where agriculture and construction already are taking advantage of the technology. “I think the off-highway industry is by far a better use case for autonomous electric machines than autonomous passenger cars. We can operate these machines in a much safer environment with lots of issues that would be less issues than the passenger car industry has,” Alstrom told Power & Motion. “So I think you'll see autonomous solutions coming faster actually in a high rate than in passenger car or on highway heavy duty trucks and so forth, simply because the use case is much better.”
