We are now halfway through 2025 and although it has not shaped up to be the year of recovery many anticipated for the fluid power sector and its many customer markets, there remain some bright spots. As our top story in this month’s newsletter demonstrates, the critical importance of hydraulic components like hoses to a range of transportation applications – and anticipated growth in those sectors – will benefit the hydraulics market in the years to come.
The latest fluid power shipments and orders data from the NFPA, discussed in our second piece this month, shows there may be signs of recovery taking place for the pneumatics sector. Per the association, the 12/12 rate of change for pneumatic shipments has been slowly increasing since the start of the year. Industrial applications where pneumatics are used most frequently have so far fared somewhat better in 2025 than many mobile industries, which may be helping the pneumatics as well as industrial hydraulics sectors.
Other highlights this month include the continued investments being made in automation which are benefiting the robotics market, as well as suppliers to it including hydraulic, pneumatic and electric motion control solutions providers as well as our look at how efficiency has become a greater design focus for many.
My goal with this monthly newsletter is to inform you of the latest technology and economic trends impacting the hydraulics, pneumatics and electromechanical motion control industries. Have topics you’d like to see covered and included in this newsletter or want to provide input on the trends you’re seeing? Reach out to me any time at [email protected] to offer your thoughts.
